8 Ways to Create Products and Services Your Customers Will Love

If you’re going to produce products and services for your customers, it is important to know what your customers want.  This saves time and money when creating your products. The best way to find out what your customers want is to ask your audience for ideas about the types of products and services they want you to create. This is called marketing research.

Here are 8 different ways you can find out what your audience wants:

Ask the Right Questions – You want to lead the choices in a certain direction so that you know you can create that particular product or service. For example, maybe you are confused about two different options; post only those two options. Or maybe you know the product or service, but you want to know what they want to see; you can approach it that way instead.

Ask on Social Media – Go straight to your social media accounts to ask questions of your audience. You can also send a poll via social media, or you can post an infographic with information and ask question such as: “What is the next product or service you would like us to create?” If you can give them a couple of choices to choose from, you’ll be more likely to get more answers.

Hold a Contest – Offer five potential products or services you would like to offer, and let your audience on which one they would like to see most. The winning choice gets created, and the ones who voted on the winning offer receives a free prize or discount on your new product or service.

Engage in Discussion Groups – Remember that your audience lives in other places besides only on your lists, your groups, and your discussion boards. Go to other places where they like to hang out and read the discussions. Any question they ask can become an idea for a new product or service offering.

Utilize Emails – Use your email list to your advantage. When you are trying to come up with ideas, shoot your customers an email to ask for their input. Make it fun for them to respond by inviting them to a free Facebook brainstorming group, or offering rewards for good ideas.

Conduct a Survey – A really good way to ask questions of your audience is to conduct a survey. With a short survey you can also get a little extra information about your customers, plus input into what types of products and services they’d like to see. Make it worth their while by promising and delivering a surprise at the end of the survey.

Increase Customer Engagement – Most audiences are used to the one-way communication that most people provide to them. They get emails, they sit and watch a presentation, and they read blog posts. However, most customers aren’t used to real engagement. You need to start the conversation by always ending every blog post, every social media post and so forth with a short question.  Also taking the time to respond and interact on social media, via email or in person.

Reward Interaction – Reward people who engage with you by thanking them, and by acting excited about their contribution. Give them a prize, a coupon or even just a shout out for coming up with a great idea or  for answering the question.

Asking your audience directly is one of the best ways to choose your next product or service, or even improve the ones you are currently offering. Don’t be afraid to ask your audience. It doesn’t mean you don’t know what you want to create; it just means that you care about what your audience needs. They will appreciate being included and you will save time, money and effort when you create the products your customers will love and purchase.
